Menilik Kisah Kepemimpinan Raja Saul dari Kajian Masa Kini

Abstract


Saul adalah salah seorang figur pemimpin karismatis di Perjanjian Lama.  Riwayat kepemimpinannya memberikan banyak pemahaman pada pergumulan kepemimpinan karismatik.  Telah banyak tulisan yang mengulas teks-teks tentang Saul, namun dari sisi pergeseran sistem pemerintahan Israel kuno dari teokrasi ke monarki dan kegagalan kepemimpinannya dari segi kerohanian.  Penelitian yang mengulas kepemimpinannya yang karismatis dengan menggunakan metode penelitian narasi belum banyak ditemukan, demikian juga halnya dengan paparan tentang tokoh karismatis Saul dengan menggunakan teknik perbandingan antara Saul dengan tokoh-tokoh Perjanjian Lama lainnya.  Tujuan tulisan ini adalah mengeksplorasi sisi karismatis kepemimpinan Saul seperti yang ditampilkan dengan teknik bercerita narasi Perjanjian Lama.  Dengan menggunakan metodologi Analisa penokohan dalam narasi Perjanjian Lama dan Analisa arti kata pada beberapa kata penting yang dipilih, pemahaman terhadap pergumulan kepemimpinan karismatis Saul akan dapat dipahami, yaitu bahwa Saul mendapatkan karisma kepemimpinannya dari Tuhan dan prestasi kepemimpinannya yang dicapai melalui beberapa kemenangan dalam peperangan telah meneguhkan karisma itu di hadapan rakyat Israel.  Namun karisma kepemimpinan tersebut perlu dibarengi dengan karakter untuk memperpanjang kepemimpinan dan melanggengkan pengaruh kepemimpinannya.

Abstract

Saul was one of the charismatic leaders of the Old Testament. His leadership story provides a lot of insights into the struggles of charismatic leadership. There have been many research on Saul, but in terms of the shift from theocracy to monarchy and his spiritualtiy that leads to leadership failures. Researches on his charismatic leadership that utilizes narrative research methods has not been found, as well as the explanation of Saul's charismatic figure using characterization techniques between Saul and other Old Testament figures. The purpose of this article is to explore the charismatic side of Saul's leadership as shown by Old Testament narrative storytelling techniques. Using Old Testament narrative characterization analysis and word study of selected key words, an understanding of Saul's charismatic leadership can be understood.  It is the divine favor that makes Saul a charismatic leader, his victory in war legalizeshis leadership in front of the people.  However, lack of character shortened the duration of his leadership and eliminates its legacy
